removing a program?

I have windows XP and just now installed jaws 10. I still have 6.0 on my computer because add or remove programs seems to have a mind of its own; I don't want to mess up anything. I have messed up before with add/remove programs and had to have sighted help to get things back on track. From what I have been told about my computer being funny about this add/remove thing, the focus seems to screw up when I get into that function. Is there any other way to remove jaws 6.0 without going into add/remove programs?

Strange, Add and Remove Programs has always worked fine for me, sometimes you have to wait 15 to 20 seconds after clicking the "change or remove programs" until the listof programs appears, for each you just click "change or remove" button and after that I've never had an issue, as long as the program itself comes with adequate uninstall possibilities.
For Jaws specifically, if you go into start menu - all programs - jaws - tools, there should be someting called "uninstall Jaws", I am not 100% sure if that removes the Jaws authorization, in which case you would hve to reauthorize Jaws 10, but that'snot a big deal if it happens.

No, this won't remove authorization, and in the jaws world, this is the prefered method for removing jaws, so it cleans itself up nice and neat.

Just go into the start menu and programs, jaws, tools and uninstall jaws.

You could download the program CCleaner. Under the Tools button, one of the options lets you uninstall programs.

I would use the jaws uninstall method and then use ccleaner to clean up any traces left behind, though i usually just end up doing that by hand

talked to freedom scientific during the install, and told them the jaws 10 program didn't talk as much during install as previous programs. It really had hung up and my computer stopped talking completely. The tech did get me through the mess and I uninstalled jaws 6 with the jaws 6 disk and the uninstall feature. Am going to use the suggestions here though when my 2 free upgrades come. Do you need to go through the same steps to install an upgrade?
